TAYTO Crisps-maker Largo Foods is to rebrand itself as Tayto Snacks.

The Ashbourne-based business, founded by well-known businessman Ray Coyle, is owned by German giant Intersnack, which bought the last of Mr Coyle’s shares in 2015.

Managing director Jeff Swan said the name change “came naturally from conversations we were having about business transformation”.

“Our new name, Tayto Snacks, better associates ourselves with the category we love, and our most loved, respected, and recognised brand… we are progressive and passionate about what we do.”

The company also owns the Hunky Dory, Hula Hoops and King brands. It buys 30,000 tonnes of potatoes from Irish farms every year – some 7.5pc of the total amount of Irish potatoes brought to market in 2017. Mr Swan, pictured, became its managing director last summer after long-time boss Maurice Hickey stood down.
